Intuition - Your Reality Check
by Marina Petro
"Cease trying to work everything out with your minds. It will get you nowhere. Live by intuition and inspiration and let your whole life be Revelation."
- Eileen Caddy
Every enlightening experience you have ever had is when you perceived truth--or the reality of a situation. At any given moment there is something you're wondering about, attempting to get more clarity, information, or insight into. After exhausting your mind and other ways of acquiring information, it is your intuition that brings the sudden experience of knowing-the crystal clarity of truth.
Intuition is the difference between thinking and knowing. It enables insight into the very essence of things. Intuition speaks to the heart of the matter. It is direct perception of truth or reality and is built into the mechanism of your thought process and consciousness. Intuition is your birthright, life's guide, 'truth detector'--your built in reality check.
Your consciousness is unlimited. There is a universal body of knowledge the human brain/mind can tap into, at will, and receive information about anything. Are you aware that you are capable of receiving information about anything you want to know more about...even if you don't know anything about it consciously? This is possible by consciously accessing intuition.
Intuition is a natural function, a skill that can be developed and strengthened. Like a muscle, the more you exercise it, the more it develops. On the deepest level, intuition is connected to self preservation, our survival instinct, which is the strongest instinct we have.
The first step in developing intuition is to know it is always present, right along with your ordinary thought process. Yes, even in this moment you are receiving impressions. Are you paying attention? The impressions coming from your intuition are subtle, rapid-fire, lightning fast, and usually slip by your overtaxed, analytical, next-step-jumping, poor left brain hemisphere without notice most of the time. If you acknowledge your intuition is always present, rather than a sporadic, transcendental event, it becomes much easier to identify.
The language of intuition is silence. Father Thomas Keating said: "Silence is the language God speaks, and everything else is a bad translation." Intuitive impressions are received through the five inner senses that correspond to the five physical senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. To illustrate this, look at something in the room you're presently in. Now close your eyes and imagine you're seeing it. This is how intuitive/psychic visions and impressions are received very subtly through your inner sense of sight. Now, imagine you're hearing a friend's voice. This is how auditory intuitive impressions are received and experienced; always subtle and with the inner senses.
Most of us have forgotten the thrill we experienced as children waking up to each new day as an adventure in discovering ourselves, the world around us, greater skills to navigate with.
Stripping away the mystery of intuition can show how effortlessly and consciously you can access your very natural and profound source of wisdom and insight for anything you desire more knowledge about - whether it's furthering your own life and potential, helping others, or simply gaining insight into whatever your interests are. The more you pay attention and acknowledge your intuition, the stronger it will become and serve you.
